Juneteenth Celebration To Honor Emancipation In Oak Park
The event will commemorate the anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.

OAK PARK, IL — This June 19 marks the 153rd anniversary of emancipation from slavery. Oak Park will celebrate the momentous event with their 2nd Annual Juneteenth celebration at Live Cafe, 153 S. Oak Park Ave.
The event, which is sponsored by Suburban Unity Alliance, will be underscored by live DJ music as revelers enjoy art, food, and community.
Speaking of the massive impact of Juneteenth, nthony Clark of Suburban Unity Alliance said, ""Black History is American History. Diversity is a strength & recognizing the freedom, as well as contribution of Black Americans throughout history not only help to empower Black people, but all people! Building a greater appreciation and acknowledgment of true history leads to a greater appreciation & acknowledgement of diversity."

The Oak Park Juneteenth celebration is free and open to all. It kicks off at 6 p.m. and wraps at 9 p.m., so be sure to get there early to enjoy all the fun.
