Library Lecture To Explore Sufism Through Works Of Rumi

OAK PARK, IL — A special event will explore Sufism via the written works of the poet Rumi at Oak Park Public Library. The event is scheduled for Feb. 7 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the library's Veterans Room.

The program will be led by Franklin Lewis, chair of the department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago. Lewis will read and discuss passages from the poet and mystic Rumi's "Masnavi," which is considered one of the most important texts in Sufism.
