Loyola, Gilda's Club Chicago Helping Cancer Survivors Transition to Post-Treatment Care

A free, six-week workshop will help cancer survivors transition from active treatment to post-treatment care.

Loyola Medicine and Gilda’s Club Chicago are offering a free, six-week workshop to help cancer survivors transition from active treatment to post-treatment care.

The Cancer Transitions program is targeted to patients who have completed treatments in the last three to 24 months; however it may benefit survivors at any time in their survivorship.

At six Monday sessions, beginning Sept. 21, physicians, nutritionists, fitness trainers and other experts will discuss relaxation and stress management techniques, exercise tailored to your abilities and tips for nutritious eating.

The workshops will be presented from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, second floor auditorium, 2160 S. First Ave., Maywood. Light refreshments will be served.

Twelve million cancer survivors in the U.S. face heavy physical and psychological burdens as they transition from patients to survivors. The Cancer Support Community and Livestrong Foundation developed Cancer Transitions to address their needs. Gilda’s Club Chicago is an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community.
