MacNeal Hospital Honors Volunteer

MacNeal Hospital is honoring JoAnn Smith, who has spent 11,720 hours volunteering at the hospital.

During National Volunteer Week, MacNeal Hospital honored JoAnn Smith, who has spent 11,720 hours volunteering at the hospital during the past 18 years.

Ms. Smith, who lives in Berwyn, volunteers in the Women's Health Center, admitting and other departments.

Ms. Smith was inspired to volunteer by her late husband, who was also a MacNeal volunteer. After he died, she began volunteering at the hospital in his honor.

In 2018, a total of 121 MacNeal volunteers spent 9,683 hours volunteering at the hospital.

"We honor JoAnn and all of our volunteers," said Michelle Calva, manager of volunteer services. "They are a vital link in the chain of service and caring."
