Man Struck, Killed by Metra Train Outside River Forest Stop

An unidentified man was killed Sunday near the River Forest Metra stop, officials said.

The train, Union Pacific West Line 510, was headed to Chicago from Metra's Elburn stop around 5:35 p.m. when it struck the man, who'd been on the tracks outside the River Forest train station, a Metra spokesperson said.

The train was due at Chicago's Richard B. Ogilvie Transportation Center at 5:46 p.m., but was delayed for more than two hours as officials with Metra's police agency and River Forest police began their investigation, officials said.
