Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb to Host June Forum

Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb to Host Community Forum on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

Oak Park Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb invites all Village residents to a Community Forum on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Veteran’s Room of Oak Park’s main library, 834 Lake Street. Joining Abu-Taleb will be Village Trustee Adam Salzman. Mayor Abu-Taleb and Trustee Salzman will discuss the impact of various development projects that are currently on-going in the Village.

“It is exciting for me to see the progress we are making on various developments. But I know that with development comes some pain, including traffic and parking issues,” Abu-Taleb said. “Development is essential to be able to provide some tax relief to Oak Park taxpayers, but in the meantime, the Board and Village staff are working to provide some relief when it comes to traffic and parking, including changes to the parking garage fees and offering valet parking downtown,” he added.

“In addition to the Lake/Forest, Lincoln Properties and Colt projects in Downtown Oak Park, the Board and staff are also reviewing proposals that will help to revitalize Madison Street,” Salzman noted. “I look forward to hearing from my fellow residents on these and other issues.” “We have held these forums periodically over the last three years,” said Abu-Taleb. “These community conversations help me do my job as mayor better.”
