Mid-Day Shooting Under Investigation In Oak Park: Cops

OAK PARK, IL — Police in Oak Park are investigating a shooting that took place Wednesday afternoon. Two suspects are in custody — one believed to be the shooter — in what police believe is an isolated incident.

The conflict reportedly took place just before 3:30 p.m. when the victim and two suspects got into a physical altercation outside of the Chase Bank at 800 W. Madison St., according to police. One suspect pulled a gun during the fight and shot the victim in the abdomen, police say.

After the shooting, the suspects fled in a car, but were eventually stopped by police and taken into custody.

Police say they recovered a gun during the arrest. The victim is currently being treated at Maywood's Loyola Medical Center, but police said that his condition was not known.
