Murder Charges Filed In Cicero Shooting: Police
The alleged murderer fled into a yard and tried to hide a gun and a "significant amount of cannabis."

CICERO, IL --- A Cicero man has been charged with murder following a domestic disturbance and shooting that left one man dead Thursday. Israel Villegas, whom police say is a known gang member and convicted felon, shot Diomar Rangel six times in the 1400 block of Cicero Ave.
Police say Villegas had been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a firearm on Oct. 14 and was under electronic monitoring Thursday when he shot Rangel in the upper torso. Villegas then allegedly fled into a neighboring yard where he tried to hide a semi-automatic gun and "a significant amount of cannabis."
Villegas was apprehended in the 4700 block of 14th Street and was positively identified by "several witnesses," according to police.

Rangel was rushed to a nearby hospital and later died from injuries sustained in the shooting. Villegas is currently in custody at Cook County Jail on charges of first degree murder.
