Murder Of Elderly Oak Park Man May Be Linked To Relative

Patrick Dooley, 81, was found dead of "multiple injuries" inside his Oak Park apartment.

DARIEN, IL — The murder of an 81-year-old Oak Park man may be linked to a relative, according to village officials. The body of Patrick Dooley, 81, was found in his apartment in the 100 block of N. Austin Saturday during a wellness check.

Dooley's death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy revealed Dooley succumbed to multiple injuries.

After an investigation by Oak Park Police, a relative of Dooley is currently in custody for questioning, Chicago Tribune reports.

A statement on the village of Oak Park website said that "no signs of foul play or forced entry" at Dooley's apartment. Police have said there is no danger to the community; Dooley's murder appears to be an isolated incident.

Oak Park officials said the investigation is ongoing and more details are expected to emerge.
