Nazareth Academy Student of the Week: Alex Ziegler of Berwyn

Alex Ziegler has been named the Nazareth Academy Student of the Week. He is part of the class of 2016, of St. Leonard in Berwyn.

“Alex is a dedicated individual who is motivated to make the most of his talents,” said Mr. Hunt. “Those qualities have brought him a long way, as an outstanding student and as the starting goalie for the Varsity Soccer team.”

Q&A with Alex

Three words that best describe you:
Outgoing, intelligent, honest

How are you involved at Nazareth?
Soccer, Youth Initiative, Broadcast Club, EPICS, Model UN, Roadrunner Club, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta

What’s your favorite thing about Nazareth?
I really enjoy the global approach of Contemporary World Issues, World Literature and World Religions. These classes make me more aware of my position in the world and are very beneficial as I make my college decision and become an adult.

What are your post high school plans?
I plan to major in business. My dream school is Stanford, but I am also looking at Villanova University, Colgate University and Swarthmore College, along with a couple others.

Please choose one of Nazareth’s Four Pillars (Scholarship, Service, Spirit, Unity) and describe what it means to you?
Scholarship means more than just academics. AP and Honors courses mean little if you don’t apply what you learn. I tutor through NHS and use math and science skills to help the community through EPICS. Applying what you’ve learned to help others is what makes scholarship so important.

What’s one thing people might not know about you?
In eighth grade, I was Charlie Brown in our production of “A Charlie Brown Christmas”
