Oak Park Credit Card Earns $50,000 in Rebates

The village is considering changing from American Express to a different credit card company.

The Village of Oak Park uses an American Express credit card to pay the City of Chicago water bill, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The card earns $50,000 annually for the village in rebates, the Trubune reported, but switching to a card such as Visa or MasterCard could raise that to $100,000 in rebates. Changing cards to one with lower merchant transaction fees might also make the City of Chicago happier.
