Oak Park Offers Police Escort For Pedestrians From Dusk To Dawn
The announcement comes after a recent increase in robberies and other crimes in the village.
OAK PARK, IL — Police in Oak Park are offering a service for pedestrians who feel uncomfortable walking in the village after dark. In the light of recent increasing reports of robberies and assaults, the village will provide a police escort for residents upon request between dusk and dawn.
In a post on Twitter, the village said residents can call the police department to arrange for an officer to escort them if they feel "uneasy about walking to or from a public transit stop, public garage or other site in the community."
