Oak Park Police To Confront Spike In Crime At Public Meeting
Oak Park Police are holding two public discussions to help fight crime in the village after a recent spike in carjackings.

OAK PARK, IL — Oak Park Police are holding a public discussion to help combat crime in the village after a mother was the victim of an attempted carjacking while her daughter was in the backseat of her car. The open discussions will be held at Village Hall on Thursday, Dec. 7 and Friday, Dec. 8.
Another attempted carjacking took place in the village just a half hour before the mom was targeted by carjackers. In both instances, the suspects were described as teenagers. Police say these recent incidents are likely related to a surge in vehicle hijacking throughout Chicago and the western suburbs.
Most of these crimes have also been committed by teens.
