The Oak Park Runners Club Presents the 34th Annual Good Life Race 5K Benefiting the Collaboration for Early Childhood
The Oak Park Runners Club invites runners and walkers of all ages to participate in one of five events taking place at the Good Life Race 5K
The Oak Park Runners Club invites runners and walkers of all ages to participate in one of five events taking place at the Good Life Race 5K (formerly known as the Race That’s Good For Life) on Sunday, April 12, 2015 starting at 8:45 AM at the Oak Park River Forest High School, 201 North Scoville Avenue, Oak Park, IL . Events include a women’s 5K run, a men’s 5K run, a 5K fitness walk, a one mile youth race (for kids ages 5 to 12) and a Junior Dash for kids five and under. All proceeds from race entry fees will be donated to the Oak Park-based Collaboration for Early Childhood. In 2014 the race donated $15,000 to CEC and hopes to top that number in 2015.

The Good Life Race will be an RRCA 5K state championship race this year. This prestigious event continues to be named Race of the Year from the Chicago Area Runner’s Association for the third year in a row. It is a family friendly event that draws from the Oak Park area and beyond. The Good Life Race is also unique in that it boasts separate 5K races for men and women on top of several additional family-oriented events including Mother/Daughter and Father/Son competitions.

This popular community event brings out over 1,200 people to as well as hosting numerous volunteers and spectators. A flat, fast 5K race course and monetary prizes for top runners attract quality runners of all ages.

Top finishers of the 5K receive handmade plaques and all finishers of the women’s 5K receive a flower as they cross the finish line. Ribbons will be awarded to all youth mile, fitness walk and junior dash finishers.
The festivities begin at 8:45 AM with the Youth Mile followed by the women’s 5K at 9:10 AM, the 5K fitness walk immediately after, the men’s 5K at 9:50 and the Junior Dash at 10:30 AM. Celebrate your achievement with post-race food, free photos, a visit to the face painting clown and a stroll through the health fair for more treats from our sponsors to round out the event.
