OAK PARK, IL — Illinois State Police say a man who was standing on top of a moving box truck on I-290 was knocked over when he hit an overpass Wednesday afternoon. State police told Wednesday Journal that drivers found the man hanging off the top of the box truck near the Austin Boulevard viaduct.

According to police, the man was first spotted walking across traffic lanes on the highway around 4:45 p.m. before he reportedly climbed onto the truck. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were not life threatening.

Police are still investigating why the man climbed the semi truck.
