Painted Banners To Adorn Light Poles In Oak Park Arts District

OAK PARK, IL — The Oak Park Arts District will soon be brightened up by splashes of color in the form of hand-painted banners that will hang from its light poles. Local artists can submit images to be featured as part of the Art Banner Project, which will add vinyl banners to 34 light poles along Harrison Street.

The colorful banners will span nine blocks throughout the arts district with original works by Chicago-area artists. Artists must submit their design for the Art Banner Project by April 2 to be considered. Selected artists will also receive a $500 award.
