Pair Carjacked At Gunpoint On Oak Park Avenue: Police

OAK PARK, IL --- Oak Park police are investigating an armed carjacking that took place Friday evening. The victims, an Oak Park resident and a Georgia resident, told police they were approached by two men as they sat in a vehicle in the 200 block of South Oak Park Avenue.

The pair told police that they were inside a gray 2012 Honda Civic when someone came up and opened the driver's side door, which had been left unlocked. The suspect then pointed a small black handgun at the driver and told them to get out just as a second suspect came up to the passenger's side and told the second victim to get out.

Once both victims were out of the car, the suspects got in and fled northbound via an alley before turning to head east on Pleasant.

The total loss was estimated at $10,000, police say.
