paper heART: A Social Change and Arts Summer Camp

Our organization, Tye Johnson Artistry, Inc. (TJA), is a non-profit whose mission is to heal and inspire through art. By providing art experiences that ignite social justice, we seek to change the world by connecting with hearts and minds and motivating people to become social change agents.

This summer, we’re offering paper heART: A Social Justice and Arts Camp. During our summer camp, students will learn about different social injustices, to value themselves and others, and to express themselves artistically. Expressions will include paintings, dance, spoken word, poetry, photography, digital storytelling, and more!

Workshops are led by experienced teachers, and guest speakers from a variety of professions will lead us in discussions and activities about being socially responsible. The camp will culminate with a fundraising exhibit and performance organized by the students featuring their expressions.

With access to the revolutionary BridgePrep career and entrepreneurial development software, students will also learn research skills and how to use technologically purposefully. STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) activities will be highlighted through their project work.

Students may register for 2 weeks, 4 weeks, or 6 weeks sessions. Culminating experiences take place bi-weekly on Fridays and a full culminating experience will take place at the end of the 6 weeks.

Session 1 (Weeks 1-2): Monday, June 15th- Friday, June 26th

Session 2 (Weeks 3-4): Monday, June 29th- Friday, July 10th

Session 3 (Weeks 5-6): Monday, July 13th- Friday, July 24th
