Purse Stolen From Woman On North Avenue In Oak Park

OAK PARK, IL --- Police in Oak Park are investigating a robbery in which a purse was stolen from a woman as she walked down the street Wednesday. The incident took place in the 6000 block of North Ave., according to a police report.

The victim, a Chicago resident, told police that she was on North Avenue at approximately 7:15 p.m. when someone approached her from behind. The suspect then grabbed the woman's purse from her arm and then fled northbound across North Avenue.

The wallet reportedly contained credit and debit cards, an ID, and $5 in cash. The total loss was estimated at $40.
