Residents File Complaint Against Proposed Pawn Shop

Residents are speaking up against a proposed pawn shop on North Avenue in Oak Park.

A complaint has been filed with the Circuit Court of Cook County that states the petitioners, which includes Oak Park and Galewood residents and members of the North Avenue Neighbors Association, would "be substantially affected" by the addition of the shop and would "suffer special and unique damages to themselves and their property," according to a Wednesday Journal article. 

The EZ Pawn Shop, which is to be located at 6432 W. North Ave., would be Oak Park's fifth pawn shop and those opposed to it say it would spur more crime and wouldn't be a benefit to the community, according to the article.
