River Forest Can Now Delay Demolition of Historic Properties
Amendments to the historic preservation ordinance also requiring property owners to appear before the Historic Preservation Commission.

River Forest, IL - The River Forest Village Board has approved changes to the historic preservation ordinance in hopes of preserving historically significant local properties.
Trustees voted 5 to 1 for amendments that will make the owners of significant properties who want to tear down structures stand before the Historic Preservation Commission and will allow the village to temporarily delay proposed demolitions of such properties, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Discussions of historic preservation in the village became more frequent after the former River Forest home of the man who invented Snickers, Milky Way and Three Musketeers candy bars was demolished in September.
