River Forest Police Blotter: Lube Stolen, Power Tools Swiped

Attempted purse-snatching also reported.

The following items are taken from the River Forest Police Department daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Traffic Arrest: Juan Sandoval, 47, of Chicago, was charged Aug. 7 with driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop in the area Thatcher Avenue and Lake Street, police said.

Attempted Theft: A 47-year-old woman scraped her right hand and her upper left arm when she attempted to prevent a purse-snatching in the 7200 block of Oak Street on Aug. 6. The victim told police she was walking home with her daughter when a man ran toward her and tried to grab her purse off her arm. She sustained her injuries when the force of the attempt caused her to fall to the ground. The assailant jumped into an older model sedan and drive off.

Warrant Arrest: Uereaka Thompson, 31, of Chicago, was arrested Aug. 6 on an outstanding warrant out of Lombard for failing to appear in court for driving on a suspended license, police said. Police said Thompson called police for assistance in the in the area of William Street and North Avenue when smoke came pouring from under the hood of her car.

Theft Arrest: Michael Pedraza, 30, of Melrose Park, was charged with felony theft Aug. 6 for attempting to take three packages of K-Y Jelly and a Magic Jack telephone device from , 7251 W. Lake St., police said. The merchandise, which was concealed in a foil-lined reusable grocery bag, was valued at $108.96.

Traffic Arrest: Charles Mays, 66, of Chicago, was charged Aug. 6 with driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop in the area of Lake Street and Clinton Place, police said.

Theft: Power tools were taken Aug. 5 from the garage of a home in the 400 block of William Street. The estimated loss was not provided.

Traffic Arrest: Barbara Grzegorzewicz, 22, of Chicago was charged Aug. 5 with driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop in the 900 block of Lathrop Avenue, police said. Her passenger, Chad Oliff, 24, of Streamwood, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in a DuPage County court for driving on a suspended license, police said.

Warrant Arrest: Guadalupe Ibarra, 27, of Stone Park, was arrested Aug. 4 on an outstanding warrant out of DuPage County for failing to appear in court for traffic violations, police said. The stop took place in the 8100 block of Madison Street.

Burglary to Auto: A black duffle bag was taken Aug. 4 from a 2008 Nissan Sentra parked in the 7300 block of North Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the rear driver’s side window.

Warrant Arrest: Reka Dagen, 18, of Forest Park, was arrested Aug. 4 on an outstanding warrant out of Cook County for aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting arrest, police said. Police responded to a call in the 7800 block of Madison Street of noise and found Dagen and her boyfriend arguing. During the course of their investigation, officers found there was an outstanding warrant as Dagen initially had given them a false name, police said.

Traffic Arrest: Harold Bender, 48, of Chicago, was charged Aug. 2 with driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.

Theft: Copper coil was taken sometime between Aug. 1 and Aug 2 from the River Forest Park District garage, 7801 W. Lake St. Estimated value was between $1,200 and $6,000.

Traffic Arrest: Arturo Hernandez, 48, of Chicago, was charged Aug. 1 with driving without a valid license after a traffic stop in the area of Ashland and North avenues, police said.
