The grant will go toward purchasing a new fire truck.

The River Forest Fire Department will get to replace a 1981 fire truck, that was taken out of service in 2012, with a new fire truck with the help of a $608,000 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, according to a Wednesday Journal article

The grant will fund 95 percent of the purchase and the truck will be equipped with hoses, ground ladders, a 75-foot aerial ladder and will be able to pump water at a rate of 1,500 gallons per minute, according to the article.
