Senior citizens were rockin’ and rollin’ at the 35th annual Seniors’ Senior Prom titled, “Rock Around the Clock Sock Hop,” Friday, June 6, at the Oak Park Arms Retirement Community, 408 S. Oak Park Ave. The Falconaires Combo provided music from the Big Band era.
A highlight of the prom was the crowning of the 2014 king and queen who are elected by the residents. The 2014 prom Queen is Willie Mae Weston and King is Bob Messner.
“Our prom was a tremendous hit this year,” said Heather Lindstrom, director of marketing. “We had hundreds of seniors in our ballroom here at the Oak Park Arms. Everyone was happy and dancing the night away.”
The Oak Park Arms is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay - a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
The prom is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. For more information call 708-386-4040 or visit http://www.oakparkarms.com.
