Residents can get rid of unwanted prescriptions and documents.

In just two short trips on Saturday, residents can rid their medicine cabinets and offices of unwanted items.

Those looking to toss away unwanted prescription drugs safely can bring expired, unused or unwanted medicine to the , located on the bottom level of , 123 W. Madison St.

The program, one of more than 3,000 occurring across the country, takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Just a short trip away at the , residents can bring old and unwanted paper documents with "personal information such as canceled checks, documents containing credit card numbers, social security numbers and medical information" to get shredded.

Officials say each household is limited to two bags or small boxes.

The Public Works Center is located at 201 South Blvd. The shredding program runs from 9 a.m. to noon.
