Storms, 90-Degree Weather Possible For Summery Weekend In Chicago Area

The high on Sunday is close to 90 degrees.

ILLINOIS — It's likely that warmer temperatures are here to stay, and a high near 90 degrees is possible on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday will have a high of 79, and there is a slightly elevated fire danger on Friday afternoon due to the combination of low humidity and winds of up to 25 mph, the weather service said. There is also a possibility of a few storms on Friday night.

Saturday will have a high of 78, and will be dry during the day, with increasing storm changes starting Saturday night. According to the weather service, a few storms could produce hail large enough to dent cars.

Warmth will continue on Sunday, as will the chance for storms. The high for Sunday is 88 degrees, and the weather service said that isolated to widely scattered storms are possible like Sunday afternoon and evening.

The strongest storms could produce gusty winds, the weather service said.

AccuWeather said temperatures on Sunday could near the record of 86 degrees, which was set in 2015. According to the private forecaster, there is a 24 percent probability for thunderstorms on Sunday for Joliet, and a 50 percent probability on Sunday night.
