Sarah’s Inn Young Supporters Committee Raises over $10,000 at Sold-out Cruise for a Cause
The Sarah’s Inn Young Supporters Committee raised $10,791 to end the cycle of domestic violence at its third annual Cruise for a Cause on June 19. Over 150 guests attended the sold-out event, which was organized and hosted by the committee.
Despite the rainy weather forecast, guests enjoyed breathtaking views of the Chicago skyline from Lake Michigan on the flagship vessel of Chicago Line Cruises. The evening included an exclusive prize drawing, hors d-oeuvres and desserts, and an open bar.
The Young Supporters Committee is a diverse group of Chicagoland professionals who are committed to ending domestic violence. The group secured donations to cover costs to run the event itself, including sponsorships from Chicago Line Cruises, DJ My Boy Elroy, Domino’s Pastries, George Street Pub, Gloss Hair Salon, Goldberg Kohn Foundation, Hummingbear Studios, Jaclyn Elizabeth Photography, Prairie Title Services, Strack and Van Til, and Whole Foods Market in River Forest.

“The Young Supporters Committee was thrilled by the success of the third annual Cruise for a Cause,” said Event Chair William Boomer McInerney of Forest Park. “This year's Cruise hosted more new supporters and raised more money for Sarah's Inn than ever before. I've really enjoyed the opportunity to work with dedicated young people to help our generation break the cycle of domestic violence.”
Founded in 2012 to build a new generation of supporters for Sarah’s Inn, a non-profit located in Oak Park, the Young Supporters Committee helps raise awareness for the agency and its critical community services. Members are responsible for planning and hosting various social and fundraising events throughout the year to provide their peers opportunities to be involved with Sarah’s Inn.
