Originally from Springfield, IL, Reid moved up to Chicago to study jazz drum set with Grammy Award winning drummer Paul Wertico at Roosevelt University. At Roosevelt Reid also studied music theory and composition under the wings of professors Scott Mason and Tom Garling.
In addition to his studies, Reid has shared the stage with hip hop band The Cool Kid's at their 2011 Lollapalooza apperance. In 2013 Reid traveled with his funk band The Heard and played at New Orlean's Jazz Fest, Voodoo Fest, and at The String Cheese Incident's Suwanee Hulaween festival in Live Oak, Florida. Reid has also frequented Chicago blues establishments like Rosa's playing drums as a guest artist in The Nick Peraino band.
