Seeking Patients With Neck Pain For New Study

Cervical radiculopathy sufferers can benefit from new technology

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR), is seeking Chicago area patients with cervical radiculopathy (a condition where there is compressed nerves in the neck area of the spine) for a new clinical study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Spinal Kinetics M6-C artificial cervical disc.

Eligible patients should be ages 18 to 75 who have been diagnosed with cervical radiculopathy, but have failed non-surgical treatment. They should not have been treated with anterior cervical spinal surgery and will need to attend follow-up visits over a 24-month period or longer. Interested and eligible patients should contact: Susan Dvojack, 312.942.6689.

The Spinal Kinetics M6-C is an advanced generation disc designed to replicate the flexibility and motion of the natural human disc. As opposed to prior designs of cervical disc prosthesis, the M6-C disc has cushioning and more closely mimics both the structure and function of the natural disc.

The study is designed to compare the use of the Spinal Kinetics M6-C cervical disc with fusion (ACDF) for the treatment of symptomatic cervical radiculopathy. It is being conducted at Rush University Medical Center and MOR spine surgeons were selected for this prestigious trial. The doctor will first remove the patient’s damaged spinal disc and replace it with the new artificial disc. During the surgery, X-ray technology is used to ensure the proper placement of the study device.
