'Several Shots' Fired At Victim During Carjacking Attempt: Cops

Police say the suspect "fired several shots" at a resident during an attempted carjacking in the 900 block of Belleforte Thursday.

OAK PARK, IL — Police are looking for a suspect who "fired several shots" at a victim during an attempted carjacking in Oak Park Thursday Night. The incident took place in the 900 block of Belleforte at approximately 9:30 p.m., police say.

Police say the victim was not injured.

According to police, the victim was sitting in his vehicle when a man approached him displaying a handgun. The suspect then demanded that the victim get out of the car.

Police say the victim began to back away and the suspect began shooting at the vehicle. The suspect then fled and got into a maroon or red four-door sedan with a loud muffler, according to police.

He was last seen driving westbound on Berkshire from Belleforte.

The suspect was described as a black male, roughly 20 years of age, 5'6" tall, and weighing between 145 and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a shiny black sports jacket (possibly Adidas) with a hood.
