Sugar Beet Food Co-Op Named 'America's Best Small Business'

The Oak Park food co-op was voted the best small business in America. The announcement came on Small Business Saturday.

OAK PARK, IL — On Small Business Saturday, Sugar Beet Co-op got some pretty epic news when it found out it had been chosen as the best small business in the U.S. The contest was run by Rubicon Global, an organization that promotes sustainability and recycling for businesses.

After standing above several small businesses in the country and making it to the contest finals, Sugar Beet Co-op beat out businesses from Georgia and Virginia to take home the top prize. With the recognition, Sugar Beet Co-op will receive a $10,000 prize to put towards its future growth and development.

“Small businesses are the fabric of America and we can think of no better example of a successful, environmentally-conscious company than Sugar Beet Co-Op," Rubicon Global's Vice President of Sustainability, David Rachelson, said in a statement.
