Cops Shoot Armed Robbery Suspect At Maywood Burger King: Video

MAYWOOD, IL — The Illinois State Police are currently investigating an officer-involved shooting that was captured on video during an armed robbery at a Burger King in Maywood Sunday night. The incident took place at the fast food restaurant located at 49 E. Lake St.

Witnesses told ABC7 that the suspect was armed with a BB gun, but police did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation.

Police received a call reporting an active armed robbery at the Burger King around 8:18 p.m. When police got to the scene, they say the armed robbery was still in progress.

According to preliminary reports, two of the responding officers fired their guns during the exchange, hitting the suspect. Police say the suspect was hit with gunfire and sustained injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.

Illinois State Police say the investigation into this officer-involved shooting is ongoing. No further information was available at press time.
