SWAT Team Called After Shots Fired In Oak Park: Cops

OAK PARK, IL — Eight people are being held for questioning in Oak Park following an early morning report of shots fired Sunday that brought the Cook County SWAT team to the scene. The incident took place around 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of South Taylor and Roosevelt, according to police.

Police say they surrounded the home on South Taylor after the report, but that the occupants refused to come out of the residence. As a result, law enforcement cordoned off the surrounding area and the Cook County SWAT team was brought in to assist police with getting into the home.

After nearly four hours, police gained entry to the house and seven suspects reportedly surrendered to law enforcement. Police say they are also questioning an eighth suspect who was not in the home, but is associated with the address.

According to police, no injuries were reported.
