Tango 21 Dance Theater Takes Flight With Feathers: A Tango Journey
We are delighted to announce that Feathers: A Tango Journey is taking to the skies this summer.

Tango 21 Dance Theater is bringing its original show ‘Feathers: A Tango Journey’ back in 2017, and taking it on tour outside the Chicago area for the first time. The show premiered in Chicago in 2016.
‘Feathers’, performed by a 20-strong cast from Chicago’s only Tango dance theater company, Tango 21 Dance Theater (T21DT), will appear on stage in Oak Park, Illinois; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and South Bend, Indiana throughout June 2017.
The show tells the story of three women grounded by a storm at an airport, and how their chance meeting leads them to discover what it means to fly free. Classical Argentine tango combined with contemporary themes using live music, song, spoken word and dance – Feathers is an original production from Tango 21 Dance Theater of Chicago.

Choreographer and T21DT founder, Jorge Niedas, said: “We are delighted to be able to take Feathers on tour this summer, and share our work with a wider audience. Our shows are not dance recitals for Tango purists, but a joyful celebration of the music, rituals and passions of the dance, combined with compelling stories that we hope will make our audiences laugh, cry, and celebrate this art form.”
After each performance, the audience will have the opportunity to join an introductory Argentine Tango class led by the cast of the show. No pre-registration is necessary.
Tickets are available through Tango21DanceTheater.com.
Tango 21 Dance Theater (T21DT) is a unique dance and theater company. Using traditional Argentine Tango techniques fused with contemporary dance styles, live music, song and a cast of actors, we tell compelling, original stories to audiences in immersive settings.
T21DT was founded in 2014 by Jorge Niedas and Liz Sung who write and choreograph each original show, drawing on tango’s poetic lyrics and the rich variations in this classical dance form. The company originally grew from Niedas’ Argentine tango dance school, Tango 21, and is comprised of Chicago-area dancers, actors and musicians. Our shows tour year round throughout the Chicago area and Midwest.
Tango 21 Dance Theater is partially funded by the Oak Park Area Arts Council, in partnership with the Village of Oak Park, the Illinois Arts Council Agency and the National Endowment for the Arts. Tango 21 Dance Theater is also funded by the generous donations of our supporters.
