Thief Removes Ignition In Failed Car Theft In Oak Park: Police

Police say the thief removed the steering column to get to the ignition.

OAK PARK, IL -- Police in Oak Park are looking for a suspect or suspects who attempted to steal a vehicle. The incident took place sometime between May 13 and May 15, in the 100 block of N. Humphrey Ave.

Police say the suspect(s) "peeled back the steering column" to access and remove the ignition. They were unable to start the vehicle, but caused more than $2,200 in damage to the car, according to police.
