Thief Steals SUV In Hit-And-Run In Oak Park: Police
Police say the suspect stole the car when the victim got out to check for damage.
OAK PARK, IL — A woman's SUV was stolen after she was rear-ended by a car in Oak Park Wednesday. Police say the victim was driving north on Oak Park Ave. near Van Buren around 1:30 p.m. when the incident took place.
The victim told police she felt another vehicle hit her 2014 Ford Explorer and then got out to check for damage. As she did, police say a man "brushed past her" and got into her car, then drove away.
The car that hit the SUV, described as a gray Scion with a hatchback, then followed the stolen Ford Explorer. Police say both cars were last seen heading west on Jackson Blvd.

The stolen SUV was described as a blue/green Ford Explorer with Illinois license plate number TJ 6667.
