Thieves Steal More Than $13K Of Landscaping Machinery: Oak Park Police
The thieves used "brute force" to break a fence and steal a mower, chainsaws, pickaxes, etc. in the 200 block of Madison in Oak Park.

OAK PARK, IL — More than $13,000 worth of chainsaws, leaf blowers, pickaxes, lawn mowers, and other landscaping equipment was stolen in the 200 block of Madison during a massive burglary earlier this week. The incident took place some time between Sunday, Sept. 3 and Tuesday, Sept. 5, according to Oak Park Police.
The suspect(s) used "brute force" to get through a wooden fence and enter the property, police say. Once inside, they used tools to bust through the locks on three separate trailers. The suspect(s) reportedly removed several landscaping tools. In total, the loss was approximately $13,350 and included the following:
- Honda rototiller
- John Deere green 22" gas mower
- Two Stihl chainsaws
- One Honda gas-operated pressure washer
- One Makita sawzall
- Three pickaxes
- Two metal mowing baskets
- Three pole trimmers
- Nine Echo line trimmers
- Two Echo handheld blowers
- Three Echo bush trimmers
- Eight Echo backpack blowers
- One case of two-cycle oil
