Today, Giving Tuesday, Chicago's First Steakhouse Gene and Georgetti Donates $8,000 to Oak Park Charity - Funds Raised with Guests During National Adoption Month-

Gene and Georgetti owners, the Durpetti Family - Tony and Marion Durpetti, Michelle Durpetti, and Richard Ciota Support Local Charity.

Today is Giving Tuesday, and Chicago legend Gene & Georgetti (500 N. Franklin St.) is donating $8,000 to Oak Park based Hephzibah Children’s Association. In support of National Adoption Month in November, funds were raised through dessert sales, along with additional donations made by generous restaurant guests, and with a total match made by the Durpetti Foundation.

Mary Anne Brown, Executive Director of Hephzibah comments, “How sweet it is! Because of Gene & Georgetti’s gift we will be able to help more children and families. Thanks for making Giving Tuesday extra sweet!”

Hephzibah’s Group Homes are where abused and neglected children come to heal and grow, where they can be free of fear, worry, and loneliness. Their family based services renew and strengthen family bonds and their foster care services create new, loving and secure family ties. Hephzibah’s day care program offers an award winning educational experience for children in the community - regardless of their family’s ability to pay.

Since opening in 1941, Gene & Georgetti is still family owned and operated. Co-founder Gene Michelotti’s daughter Marion Durpetti and her husband Tony Durpetti purchased the restaurant in 1990 after the passing of her father. Marion’s cousin Richard Ciota serves as general manager while their daughter Michelle Durpetti runs marketing and events.
