Young people with an interest in science and the environment will want to attend two events during the One Earth Film Festival, the weekend of March 6-8. Over 40 environmental films will be shown throughout the Chicagoland area, but two are targeted to high school age teens, specifically.

“Field Biologist,” is the inspirational story of a young man who flunked high school biology but has a passion for wildlife and conservation. This documentary follows him on his path toward a vocation and will be shown at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Good Earth Greenhouse, 7900 Madison St., in River Forest. Arrive early to purchase a smoothie and snacks at the adjacent Juice Joint between 6:30 and 7 p.m.

Afterward, a panel will provide opportunities for discussion, questions, and action. John Cawood of Openlands, Katarina Berin of West Cook Wild Ones, and Raphael Rosa of the Student Conservation Association will offer their perspectives on what young people can do to protect the environment.

“The Meaning of Wild,” “Young Voices for the Planet,” and “Search for the Big Seven: Garden of Eden,” will be shown at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 8, at Willard Elementary School, 1250 Ashland Ave., in River Forest. These films focus on protecting natural resources and provide examples of young people working toward that goal. Arrive early to purchase brunch from the 206 Food Trucks. Eggs, waffles, coffee, and cocoa will be available between 10:15 and 11 a.m.
