Woman Fills Cart With Contraceptives, Toys, During Retail Theft

OAK PARK, IL — Oak Park Police are looking for three suspects who were involved in a retail theft in which a woman filled a cart with contraceptives, household goods, toys and medicine before exiting the store. The incident took place Wednesday at about 6:30 p.m. in the 6400 block of W. Roosevelt.

According to police, employees observed the first offender placing several items in a shopping cart. She filled the cart with various toys, cosmetics and household items. She then reportedly smashed a glass case and removed several contraceptives. The suspect then exited the store without paying, police say.

An employee stopped the woman outside the store and was able to recover the cartful of stolen goods. The woman then got into a black 2009 Toyota Camry, which was driven by a second suspect and had a third suspect in the backseat. The vehicle then fled west on Roosevelt, according to police.

The woman was described as a Hispanic female between the ages of 40 and 45, 5'2" tall and weighing about 180 pounds. The employee told police the suspect had a medium complexion and blond hair and was last seen wearing light-blue jeans and a black-beige-and-pink sweatshirt.

The second offender was described as a black male, but no further description was provided. No description was provided for the third suspect.
