2 Fugitives On The Run After Purse Theft At Orland Square
An armed robbery in the parking lot near Macy's began a police chase that ended with the suspects abandoning a stolen car.

ORLAND PARK, IL - Authorities are on the lookout for two men who they say robbed a woman of her purse in the parking lot at Orland Square and escaped capture twice during a pursuit that involved a stolen car from Tinley Park. Orland Park police responded to the parking lot near Macy's at the mall at 3:16 p.m. on Saturday, when they were told that a black man with a hood over his head entered a woman's car as she was returning from shopping and stole a purse from the back seat. The man, who also allegedly showed a handgun to the victim and a female friend, entered a green Ford Mustang driven by another black man and fled the area, according to a news release from the Orland Park Police Department.
An Orland Park police officer spotted the car fleeing the area near 151st Street, but lost sight of it after it turned north on Harlem Avenue. It was spotted again on Interstate 294 near the South Holland oasis, where it was abandoned.
Police say the two suspects then escaped capture from officers in South Holland after they abandoned the vehicle and were on foot. A handgun was found abandoned on the ground during this pursuit, police said.
