21-Year-Old Free On I-Bond Picks Up Second Drug Charge: Police
"I guess I didn't impress upon you how serious this was from the first time you were here," judge tells Mt. Greenwood man.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A Mount Greenwood man free on an I-bond was arrested July 2 in Orland Park after police found Clonazepam in his car, prosecutors said. Connor Gibson, 21, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. Gibson had appeared in Felice’s courtroom the week before for a felony charge of possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.
An Orland Park police officer was on patrol around 7:30 p.m. July 2 near the 15700 block of LaGrange Road, when he claims he saw a driver, later identified as Gibson, packing a pipe with marijuana while driving. Gibson was pulled over, where the officer found a small amount of cannabis and an orange tube in a hidden compartment containing 32 Clonazepam, the prosecutor said. Gibson allegedly admitted that the orange tube containing the pills were his.
The prosecutor said that Gibson had been arrested on June 25 in Evergreen Park. Gibson was in a car with three other people in the 9700 block of Lawndale Avenue when they were pulled over by police. According to the charges, Gibson handed over a Crown Royal bag containing a digital scale. A book bag allegedly belonging to Gibson was also recovered, in which police said they found THC oil and more bags of marijuana. He had been free on a $25,000 I-bond at the time of his second arrest, according to the prosecutor.

Until recently, Gibson had no prior arrests. The assistant public defender said that Gibson was a St. Rita High School graduate and worked security at a bar.
“I find it hard to believe a police officer saw him loading a pipe while driving,” the attorney said.

Gibson’s I-bond was revoked. The judge set Gibson’s bail on the new charge at $100,000. His next court date is July 24 in Bridgeview.
“I guess I didn’t impress upon you how serious this was from the first time you were here,” Felice said.
