24 Sickened By Carbon Monoxide In Orland Park Restaurant
Fire crews encountered more than two dozen diners complaining of headaches and feeling sick at Red Robin Restaurant.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A Red Robin restaurant in Orland Park remains closed after diners became sickened by carbon monoxide poisoning Friday evening.
The Orland Fire Protection District arrived around 7:22 p.m. at the Red Robin Restaurant, 15502 S. LaGrange Road, after two dozen customers reported headaches and feeling sick while dining. Firefighters tested the atmosphere, which showed high levels of carbon monoxide readings of 400 PPM. (SUBSCRIBE: Get Real-Time Alerts and a Daily Newsletter for Orland Park)
Customers and employees were evacuated from the restaurant while firefighters monitored HVAC equipment and ventilated the building.

The customers and employees were evacuated and firefighters monitored the HVAC units causing the problem and the restaurant was ventilated. Twenty diners were evaluated by EMS at the scene, but declined further medical attention. Four patients were transported to Silver Cross Hospital for further treatment.
Officials of NICOR and the Village of Orland Park Building Department were called in and the restaurant was shut down for the evening. Officials said the restaurant will remain closed pending completion of repairs.

OSHA states that an enclosed are for work needs to be below 50 PPM. The Orland Fire Protection District uses 35 RPM as a recommendation for residential occupancies.
