29 Sandburg musicians selected for ILMEA festivals
Highly competitive and prestigious auditioned festivals

Twenty-four Sandburg musicians were selected to participate in the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA) District 1 Festival. This event, which brings together the top musicians in the state of Illinois, was held at Elmhurst College on Saturday, November 19. In addition, the ILMEA Jazz Festival was held on November 12; five of Sandburg’s own jazz musicians were selected to participate. During ILMEA Festivals, students rehearse and perform as part of elite bands, choirs and orchestras, as well as attend sessions offered by nationally renowned teachers and clinicians.
Students were selected for these highly competitive and prestigious festivals as a result of auditions held at Sandburg in mid-October. Over 1200 young musicians competed for the opportunity to perform in
the District Festival and, potentially, in the All State Conference, to be held in Peoria in late January 2017.
