Amazon Fulfilment Center Warehouse in Markham Supports Treasure Chest Foundation Volunteers

The Amazon Fulfilment Center in Markham is giving to the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation volunteers by donating 480 bags of potato chips. The chips will be given without expense to our weekly volunteers who help provide joy and smiles to young children and teens fighting cancer.
Safety Specialist Velvet Cappello said, “At Amazon, we are dedicated to giving back to the communities where our employees live and work. We are excited to work with organizations that are making a direct impact in our community.”
Ms. Kisel showed her appreciation by saying “We are so grateful to Amazon and their contribution has been incredible. Having a snack for the steady stream of weekly volunteers is wonderful. Who doesn’t love a bag of chips?”

The POTCF is a unique organization whose services impact more than 16,100 young cancer patients in 66 cancer treatment centers in 21 states across the nation and in the District of Columbia. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Ms. Kisel discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain, noting that when children are diagnosed with cancer their world soon becomes filled with doctors, nurses, chemotherapy drugs, surgeries and seemingly endless painful procedures.
