The Parkview Christian Church Motorcycle Club of Orland Park will hold its third annual CruZin for KikZ Motorcycle Run on Saturday, July 27, 2013, all makes and models welcome. All proceeds benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation.
Registration begins at Parkview Christian Church, 183rd and Wolf Road, Orland Park, at 9:30 am, first bike out at 11:00 am. $20 per biker or $30 per couple. The run will end with lunch and refreshments at the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation, 15430 70th Court, Orland Park.
The POTCF is a locally based non-profit organization that provides comfort and distraction from painful procedures to children and teens diagnosed with cancer by providing a toy, gift or gift certificate in 44 hospitals nationwide. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. CEO Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Ms. Kisel discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain and his new world filled with doctors, nurses, chemotherapy drugs, surgeries and seemingly endless painful procedures. Martin recently celebrated his 20th anniversary of remission from the disease.
The CruZin for KidZ with Cancer Motorcycle Run will help the Foundation obtain necessary funding to aid children battling cancer throughout Chicagoland and across the nation. Every year, approximately 12,400 children and teens are diagnosed with cancer-that is one in every 330 children.
