ORLAND PARK, IL — The Orland Fire Protection District released the scheduled dates for the popular Kids Camp (Monday, June 15) and the Junior Cadet program (Tuesday, June 16), and reminds interested parents to mark their calendars for the events and the required registration.
OFPD Program Coordinator Betsy Dine said the programs have limited attendance and are open to families that live in the district.
Registrations for the Kids Camp and for the Junior Cadet program will be held on Monday, May 4, beginning at 9 a.m. Registration will only be accepted online using the form on the fire district’s website.
If the camps are not full by May 28, the OFPD will accept attendees who live outside of the district for a fee of $30. An announcement will be made at that time.
The Kids Camp program is touted as a fun, educational and hands-on day of training for kids ages 8-12 to learn about fire and life safety education. It offers children a glimpse of what it's like to be a firefighter.
The Junior Cadet program is designed for teens ages 13 to 18 years old. The interactive fire academy gives participants a closer look at fire service as a career and the importance of teamwork, Dine said.
The fire district schedules many public events, including the Senior BBQ to be held on July 1, and the annual OFPD Open House rescheduled to Sept. 19.
