ORLAND PARK, IL — An Orland Park man found dead inside his home died of multiple injuries from an assault, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said Thursday afternoon. Orland Park police have a person of interest in custody, police confirmed Thursday afternoon.
Samir Kassem was found dead inside the residence in the 14100 block of Concord Drive Wednesday evening, police said. The medical examiner ruled his manner of death a homicide, according to records.
On April 29, at 6:31 p.m., Orland Park Police Officers responded to the 14000 block of Concord Drive for an assist-ambulance call, police said Thursday. Officers spoke with the 911 caller, who reported that a man was dead inside the residence. Police at the scene found Kassem dead at the home.
Orland Park police said on social media just before 8 p.m. Wednesday that there was a heavy police presence on Concord Drive and that there did not appear to be a threat to the public.
The investigation is active and ongoing, Orland Park Police Department Public Information Officer Casey Wall said.
