The Orland Park Public Library is proud to feature Roba Alrafati as its May Artist of the Month. Her exhibit, Beautiful Creatures, showcases a collection of evocative oil paintings that explore emotion, connection, and quiet reflection.
Patrons are invited to attend a special Meet the Artist on Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m., where they can view the artwork and meet Alrafati in person. This event offers a unique opportunity to learn more about her creative process and the inspiration behind her work.
Alrafati’s paintings invite viewers to pause and experience moments of stillness amid the noise of daily life. Her work reflects inner emotional states rather than outward appearances, often incorporating animal figures as symbols of companionship, trust, and protection. Through thoughtful use of light, shadow, and color, her art evokes a sense of calm and encourages personal interpretation.
A Chicago-based portrait and figure artist, Alrafati originally studied civil engineering before pursuing her passion for painting. Her work captures fleeting moments of longing, wonder, and introspection, aiming to connect with viewers on a deeply emotional level.
The May Artist of the Month exhibit will be on display throughout the month during regular library hours. The Meet the Artist event is free to attend and open to the public. No registration is required.
