Advisory committees assist the School Board in determining needed changes or additions, either required by State law or necessary due to internal evaluations of current services and processes. The committees are designed as communication tools to represent the district’s broader audience. An advisory committee’s function is not one of decision–making, but as the voice of all students’ needs as recommendations are being made to and decisions are made by the School Board.

Board Committees shall be comprised of community members, School Board members, staff, and administration. Each member serves an important role in providing insight and expertise regarding topics being considered by the full Board.

In providing input to the School Board and administration, committee members must do the following:

Education Committee The purpose of this committee is to discuss topics including curriculum and instructional materials, data related to student academic achievement, including high-stakes testing such as ACT and Advanced Placement, and a range of other topics monitoring our students' academic progress. (Typically meets the first Wednesday of each month.)

Student Services Committee The purpose of this committee is to discuss topics related to specialized programming such as special education, English Learner (EL) programming, and student discipline. Additionally, the committee reviews our guidance and pupil support services focused on supporting our students' social-emotional development. (Typically meets the second Tuesday of each month.)

Building and Finance Committee The purpose of this committee is to discuss district financing and capital improvements. The committee will provide perspective on our tax levy and issues related to funding from federal, state, and local sources. (Typically meets the third Monday of each month.)
